William George Glassford enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 19 on the 25th of August 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Farm Hand. He volunteered and was stationed with the 8th Battalion, 14th Reinforcement later transferring to the 58th Battalion with the Regimental number 4508. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 15th May 1919.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as William G. Glasford.
