Frank Page Alston (SN 4427) born at Ballarat, was a 22 year old bank clerk when he enlisted at Cootamundra NSW on August 13th 1915. He embarked aboard the Themistocles on January 28th 1916 and in April he reached France for service with the Australian Records Section at General Headquarters. In November 1917 he was transferred to the 1st Australian Field Artillery Brigade and saw out the final year of the war without serious illness or injury. He returned to Australia aboard the Boonah, disembarked at Melbourne on June 8th 1919 and was discharged on September 20th.
