Biography

Otto William Davies (SN 10832), born in Ballarat, attended the Dana Street State School. He was a was 19 year old butcher when he enlisted on 22nd July 1915. He was posted to 22nd Company Australian Army Service Corps and left Australia in June 1916 on board the Persic. On June 6th 1917 he was driving a supply cart to an artillery battery near Armentieres when the area came under enemy artillery fire. Driver Davies was killed when his horses bolted in panic and he was thrown from the cart and fell under the wheels. He is buried at Pont-D'Achelles Cemetery, France.
