Charles Timothy Leo Dwyer (SN 651) was born in Ballarat where he enlisted on July 12th 1915. At the time he was a 21 year old driver. On November 8th he embarked aboard the Wandilla, first to Egypt, and then on to France in June 1916 where he joined the 25th Field Artillery Brigade. In January 1917 a heel injury caused his evacuation to England where illness saw him hospitalised for an extended time at Bulford Hospital. He was then diagnosed with a heart condition and was assessed as unfit for further active service. He sailed from England on the Borda in September 1917, reached Melbourne in November and was discharged as medically unfit on Christmas Eve 1917.
