Born in Dumfries, Scotland, Forsythe McMaster Main was a married 45 year old carpenter at the time of his enlistment in Ballarat on the 8th of November 1915. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A54 Runic on the 20th of January 1916.
Forsythe returned to Australia on the 22nd of July 1916 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 30th of August 1916.
