Biography

John McDonald was born in Blowhard and enlisted in Ballarat on 24th August 1914. He was 27 years old, single and a labourer. He was a member of the 8th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 164. During his service he was promoted to Lance Corporal. On 8th May 1915 he was killed in action at Krithia. His name is on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
