Biography

Samuel Morris (SN 4315) born at Ballarat, was a 35 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on November 12th 1915 . He embarked aboard the Ulysses on April 1st 1916 and sailed to England to serve with the 28th Infantry Battalion. Health problems limited his further training, although in July 1916 he spent a period in detention for creating a disturbance after lights out. He returned to Australia aboard the Wiltshire, and was discharged on February 27th 1917 ‘medically unfit, heart disease’.
