Sydney Vivian Wade was a labourer at Rocky Lead when he enlisted on18th December 1915. He was born in Rocky Lead, was single and only 16 years old. This deceit was only discovered after his death. He was allocated to the 59th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 4951. On 26 July 1916 he died of wounds received in the fighting at Pozieres, and is buried in the Calais Southern Cemetery, France.
