Born in Warrnambool, Victoria, John Lynn Henderson was a married 23 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 28th of January 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on the 7th of September 1916.
On the 17th of September 1917, John was wounded in action. He embarked for England on the 28th of September 1917 and was admitted for arm contusions and for being shell gassed.
John returned to Australia on the 18th of May 1919 and was discharged on the 25th of June 1919 due to the termination of his enlistment period.
