Biography

Arthur Stuart Keylock Rusden (SN 5215) was born at Rupanyup, was educated at Nhill State School and Ballarat High School before enlisting on 3rd January 1916. An 18 year old, unmarried, civil servant, he was assigned to the 59th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne on April 1st 1916 on board the Suffolk. After training in Egypt, he arrived in France at the end of June 1916. He suffered a gunshot wound to the arm in September 1917 and was promoted to Corporal the following February. On July 4th 1918 he was killed in action at Hamel, and is buried in Mericourt-L'Abbe Cemetery, France.
