Biography

John Alfred Wunhym was born in Ballarat East and enlisted there on 4th January 1916. He was 19, single and a labourer. He joined the 5th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 4965. The battalion moved into the front line trenches in the Gueudecourt area, and on 26th March 1917 Private Wunhym was killed in action. His name was recorded on Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
