Biography

William Ambrose Kennedy (SN 2353) was born in Ballarat and educated at Christian Brothers School. He enlisted in Melbourne on January 17th 1916 as a 38 year old, unmarried, railway employee. He joined the 37th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne for active service in October on board the Port Lincoln. After three months training in England, he was posted to France in April 1917. He was killed in the Battle of Messines Ridge on June 14th 1917, and is buried in Bethleem Farm East Cemetery, Belgium.
