Donald Henry McDonald (SN 4183) was born at Bolwarrah, Victoria, and features on the honour board of the Bolwarrah State School. He was a 23 year old labourer when he enlisted on January 4th 1916, joining the 21st Infantry Battalion. He embarked from Melbourne two months later on board the Wiltshire and reached France in June. Only a few days after being promoted to Corporal, he was killed in action in the 2nd Battle of Bullecourt on May 3rd 1917. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
