Donald Henry McDonald was born in Bolwarrah and enlisted on 4th January 1916 from Ballarat East. He was a 23 years old, unmarried labourer. He- was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion with Regimental No. 4183. During his service he was promoted to Lance Sergeant. He was killed in action in the 2nd battle of Bullecourt on
3rd May 1917, and his name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
