John Taylor Davey (SN 14777) born in Ballarat, was a 21 year old bank clerk when he enlisted in Melbourne on January 18th 1916. On July 19th he embarked from Melbourne aboard the Armadale and sailed to England where he was attached to the Australian Army Pay Corps. His service was restricted to England, so he avoided battle wounds. When the war ended, he returned to Australia aboard the Kigoma, disembarked at Melbourne on July 15th 1920 and was discharged on October 5th.
