Biography

George Henry Robertson was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Confectioner living in Ballarat East when he enlisted in the 39th Battalion, D Company on 20 March 1916 at the age of 24. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 27 May 1916. On 12 January 1917, whist in France, he reported to hospital as sick suffering hernia pains. He was transferred to England for light duty where he remained until 4 January 1919 whereupon he returned to Australia aboard the Morvada.
