Thomas Stephen Dunstan (SN 5340) was born in Ballarat where he was an 18 year old farrier when he enlisted on January 24th 1916. Assigned to the 23rd Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Miltiades on August 1st and reached France in early December. On May 3rd 1917 he suffered a gunshot wound that fractured his left elbow and was evacuated to hospital in England. For him, the war was over. He departed England on November 5th aboard the Themistocles, disembarked on December 21st and was discharged as medically unfit on February 5th 1918. He also enlisted during World War 2.
