Born in Feltham, England, Charles Keen was a single 21 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 28th of January 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on the 28th of July 1916.
On the 1st of June 1916, Charles was promoted to Sergeant.
He returned to Australia on the 30th of April 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 7th of June 1919 due to foot contusions.
