Leslie Bowra enlisted in Warwick, New South Wales at the age of 32 on the 11th of September 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Blacksmith. He volunteered and was stationed with the 36th Battalion, A Company as Regimental number 52. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 18th of October 1917.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Leslie Boura.
