Gunnar Karllstrom was born in Finland, but enlisted from Fitzroy North on 7th February 1916. He was 24 years old, married, and a labourer. He was posted to the 39th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 923. He was seriously wounded in the trenches on 11th January 1917, and died while being treated in the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station. He is buried in the Trois Arbres Cem., Steenwercke, Belgium.
