Gunnar Karllstrom (SN 923) was born in Finland but enlisted in Melbourne on February 7th 1916. He was 24 years old, married, and a labourer. He was posted to the 39th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in late May on board the Ascanius. He arrived in France in November but died at at the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station of gunshot wounds on January 17th 1917 . He is buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery, Belgium.
