Born in Bendigo, Victoria, John McMahon was a single 39 year old bricklayer at the time of his enlistment on the 7th of February 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on the 4th of April 1916.
John returned to Australia on the 14th of August 1916, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 3rd of October 1916.
