Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a Managing law clerk by occupation, Frank Johnson Dale was 38 years and married when enlisted on the 25th of August 1914 in the 8th Battalion, B Company, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Captain. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 'Benalla' on the 19th of October 1914. Admitted sick to Hospital – Influenza, Gallipoli on the 4th of July 1915; admitted sick to Hospital – chronic Gastritis, Gallipoli on the 10th of July 1915 and admitted for Gastritis, Ghezireh on the 14th of July 1915. Granted 3 months leave by medical board and embarked for Australia on the same day on the 28th of August 1915. Returned to Australia per 'Euripides' on the 29th of August 1915 invalided. Disembarked on the 1st of October 1915. With the termination of period of enlistment on the 31st of December 1915. Family/military connections Brother-in-law: Lt Robert Sunderland Barrett, 8th Battalion, killed in action on the 25th of April 1915. Tree No. 211
