Biography

Leonard James Martin Harrison was aged 19 and working as a laborer when he enlisted in the 39th Battalion in 1916. He was Private No. 906. He embarked Melbourne 27 May 1915 on board ASCARIUS, arriving in Devonport, England 18 July 1916. On 23 November 1916 from South Hampton he proceeded to France. He served in the D Coy. 39th Battalion 4/2/1916-4/5/1916 and transferred to C.Coy. 39th Battalion 5/5/1916. He was discharged 24/10/1919 as medically unfit.

Before enlisting into WW1 Leonard was a member for two years of the 70th Military Band.
