Biography

Alfred Williams (SN 1791) was born in Ballarat where he enlisted on February 14th 1916. He was a 29 year old labourer. He embarked from Melbourne aboard the Euripodes in April 1916 and reached France in June to serve with the 60th Infantry Battalion but was transferred to the 57th Battalion in September. On September 25th 1917 he was severely wounded at Passchendaele and died of his wounds on October 17th 1917. He is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
