James Ellis was born in Ballarat, Victoria was single and was employed as a Labourer. He enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 18. He volunteered and was stationed with the 39th Battalion, D Company with the Regimental number 1277. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 19th of September 1918. Tree number 2196.
