Alfred Hugh Homer was born in Ballarat and enlisted from there on 27 August 1914. He was 26 years old, single, and a labourer. He joined the ath Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 2557. During his service he was promoted to Corporal. He was fatally wounded during the fighting at Hamel and died on 7th July 1918. He is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
