Edwin Archibald Craig (SN 1643) was born in Kingston but was educated at the Scotsburn State School. He was a 36 year old widower, a farmer living in Ballarat North, when he enlisted on March 11th 1916. He left Australia in May on board the Port Lincoln to serve with the 58th Infantry Battalion and was transferred to France in August. He was killed in action during the fighting around Villers-Bretonneux on April 27th 1918. He is buried in the Crucifix Corner Cemetery, at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
