Henry Joseph Stevens was born in Little Bendigo, and enlisted there on 18th February 1915. He was an 18 year old, unmarried bootmaker. He was posted to the 23rd Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 912. He reported ill on Gallipoli and was being evacuated to Lemnos on the Hospital Ship Simla when he died of diphtheria on 10th September 1915. He is buried in East Mudros Military Cemetery, Greece.
