Biography

Robert William Laverick (SN 1690) was born in Ballarat and attended the Golden Point State School. He was an 18 year old boiler maker at the time of his enlistment on March 13th 1916. He embarked for active service in May on board the Port Lincoln, posted first to the 60th Infantry Battalion then later transferred to the 58th Infantry Battalion. He arrived in France in July 1917 and joined his unit in September but was killed in action at Polygon Wood just two weeks later on September 25th 1917, has no known grave, and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
