Biography

Rupert Sunderland Barrett was a Lieutenant in the 8th Infantry Battalion. He was born at Dunolly but was educated at Ballarat College and Melbourne University. He was 32 years old, single, and working as a station overseer when he enlisted in Ballarat on the August 28th 1914. He embarked from Melbourne aboard the Benalla on October 19th . At the age of 33, he was killed during the landing at Gallipoli on April 25th 1915. He is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery and commemorated on the Ballarat College honour board.
