Biography

William Goldby was born in Broomfield and enlisted in Ballarat East on 20th July 1915. He was 19 years old, single and a railway clerk. He was posted to the 59th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No, 3550. Durinhis service he was promoted to Sergeant. He was killed in action near Fleurbaix 19t July 1916, and his name appears on the V C Corner, Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles,. France. Tree 2260
