Stanley Walter Dick (SN 1265) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old baker when he enlisted on March 27th 1916. He embarked aboard the Ascanius on May 27th for overseas service with the 39th Infantry Battalion. He reached France in November 1916 and was wounded twice in 1918, a shrapnel wound to his eyelid and gassed. When the fighting ceased, he returned home on the Orsova, disembarked at Melbourne on February 27th 1919 and was discharged on April 6th. . He served again in WW2 with service number V80474.
