Biography

Percival Hector Davies (SN 6249) born at Maryborough, Victoria, was a married 34 year old assayer with five children when he enlisted at Ballarat on April 10th 1916. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Euripides on September 11th and reached France in December. In January 1917 he was hospitalised suffering from bronchitis, first in France and then England. He was incapacitated by the condition and returned to Australia aboard the Kanowna. He disembarked at Melbourne on September 11th 1917 and was discharged ‘medically unfit, tuberculosis of lung’ on October 18th.
