Biography

John Nicholas Eddy (SN 6015), born in Ballarat, was a 43 year old married miner when he enlisted on April 11th 1916. Allotted to the 8th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Themistocles on July 28th and sailed to England. In November he was transferred to the 60th Battalion before crossing to France shortly after. His service from here was frequently interrupted by illness, particularly influenza and severe myalgia, until it was decided he was no longer fit for active service. He was returned to Australia aboard the Marathon, disembarked at Melbourne on June 12th 1918 and was discharged medically unfit on July 20th.
