Ellis Claud Harvey Dawber (SN 6004) born in Geelong was a 27 year old labourer when he enlisted on April 13th 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Themistocles on July 28th. In November he arrived in France to serve with the 8th Battalion. On April 16th 1917 he was wounded in action, suffering a severe shell wound to his left arm which was subsequently amputated. His war was over and he was returned home aboard the Beltana disembarking at Melbourne on December 10th 1917 and discharged on January 28th 1918.
