Biography

Vernon Francis Harrison (SN 6276) born in Melbourne, was a 22 year old upholsterer when he enlisted in Ballarat on April 26th 1916. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion, he embarked aboard the Euripides on September 11th and sailed to England before reaching France on Christmas Eve. He suffered a gunshot wound to his arm in April 1918 but was able to rejoin his unit a month later. He then served out the remainder of the war without incident. He returned to Australia aboard the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 10th.
