Biography

George Edwards Stephens (SN 6600) was born at Gordon and educated at Urquhart Street State School and Ballarat Technical School. He was a 33 year old lithographic artist in Malvern when he enlisted on May 6th 1916. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion, embarking from Melbourne in October on board the Nestor. He arrived in France the following February and on April 23rd 1917 he died of wounds sustained at Noreuil. He is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, France.
