Walter James Bradby (SN 6235) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 3rd 1916. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Euripides on September 11th and in December he reached the battlefields of France. He completed his service without major injury or illness and returned to Australia on the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 10th. He re-enlisted in November 1920 (SN 1470) and served six months with the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force at Rabaul in New Guinea. He also served in WW2.
