Patrick Phillip Flynn (SN 6506) born in Harrow, was a 27 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 29th 1916. Assigned to the 8th Battalion his unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Nestor on October 2nd. He enlisted two months after his brother James and served on the Western Front. He avoided physical battle wounds but was hospitalised in 1917 with Trench Fever. He returned on the Persic disembarking in Melbourne on August 29th 1919 and was discharged on October 13th.
His brother James also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
