Charles Gordon McIver was Regimental No. 2122, in the 39th Infantry Battalion. He was born in Ballarat and enlisted there on 29th May 1916. He was 21 years old, single and employed as a grocer. In France he became seriously ill with TB and was evacuated to Australia in the Hospital Ship "Karoola". He died in the Austin Hospital, Melbourne, on 18th January 1920 and is buried the Ballarat [Old] Cemetery.
