Henry Hosken Morshead was born in Ballarat and was a Clerk in Holy Orders when he enlisted in the Chaplains' Corps on 16 July 1916 at the age of 34. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A67 Orsova on 29 July 1916. Soon after the cessation of hostilities he was recommended for the Order of the British Empire. æHis duties have always been carried out in a thorough and energetic manner, and throughout the final operations this Officer has performed his work under most adverse circumstances, greatly assisting both officer and man in their difficult and arduous duties. His cheerfulness and tact were exceptionally helpful.' He returned to Australia 15 June 1919
