Biography

Albert Edward Freestone (SN 53) was born Ballarat and attended the Queen Street State School. He enlisted in Ballarat on October 1st 1914. He was 25 years old, single and a labourer. He joined the 14th Infantry Battalion and embarked aboard the Ulysses in December. He landed at Gallipoli on April 26th 1915. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 26th, has no known grave and is remembered on the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine.
