Biography


Born in Ballarat, Francis De Courcy Mann was a single 33 year old barrister and solicitor at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 2nd of August 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A34 Persic on the 3rd of June 1916.
On the 15th of December 1915, he was promoted to Sergeant.
Francis was then promoted to Lieutenant on the 6th of March 1916.
On the 17th of February 1917, he was wounded in action, but remained at duty. Francis was promoted to Captain on the 20th of September 1917.
He returned to Australia on the 26th of November 1919 and was discharged on the 9th of April 1920.
