Biography

Edwin George Parsons was born in Marryatville, SA and was a Linesman in Ballarat when he enlisted in the 46th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement on 29 January 1916 at the age of 40. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on 4 April 1916 and disembarking in Marseilles on 8 June 1916. His records show he escaped any serious injury or harm but was awarded several days' pay for being absent on church parade and one case of drunkenness when marching out on parade. He returned to Australia 16 October 1916.
