Biography

Percy Oswald Sevior was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Coachbuilder when he enlisted with the 39th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcement on 13 June 1916 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A9 Shropshire on 25 September 1916. He proceeded overseas to France in December 1916 and from there to signalling camp. On 4 October 1917 he was wounded in action in the field with a gunshot wound and was invalided to England. He re-joined his unit from furlough on 21 September 1918. He was admitted to hospital for gonorrhoea in January 1919. He was again sent to England to await embarkation back home to Australia on 31 March 1919.
