Charles Marshall Lippiatt was born in Buninyong and was a farmer at Scotsburn when he enlisted on 16th June 1916. He was 23 years old and single. He was posted to the 39th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 2107. When his battalion was in the trenches Private Lippiatt was killed in action on 29th May 1917, and is buried in the Strand Military Cemetery, Hainaut, Belgium.
