Leslie John Malin was born in Ballarat, and enlisted from there on 19th June 1916. He was 34 years old, a widower, and a manufacturer. He was posted to the 39th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 2109. He earned promotion to Corporal. On 30 August 1918 he was seriously wounded in action In the area of Mont St Quentin, and died on 1st September 1918. He is buried in Daours Communal Cemetery, Somme, France.
