Clarence Ivor Niblett (SN 6574), born in Geelong, was a 29 year old married labourer when he enlisted on June 26th 1916. Posted to the 8th Infantry Battalion he embarked from Melbourne on October 2nd aboard the Nestor. He reached the battlefields of France in February 1917 and aside from being disciplined for ‘failing to make his bed’, he came through the war without major illness or injury. He returned to Australia on the Port Darwin, disembarked at Melbourne on July 27th 1919 and was discharged on September 3rd.
