Biography

William John O'Neill was a single 20 year old labourer from Ballarat when he enlisted in the A.I.F on the 3rd of July 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on the 11th of September 1916. On January 30th 1917 he was reported wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his face. On the 23rd of September 1917 he rejoined his unit. William was admitted to hospital on January 21st 1918 for Tachycardia. He returned to Australia on the 7th of June 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 13th of September 1918 suffering from tachycardia and asthma.
