Born in Clunes, Victoria, Bruce Maude was a single 19 year old labourer at the time of his enlistment in Melbourne, Victoria on the 4th of July 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on the 11th of September 1916.
On the 4th of October 1917 Bruce was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his arm, but he rejoined his battalion on the 21st of November 1917.
Bruce returned to Australia on the 7th of September 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 7th of October 1919.
