Ernest Roy Stone was born in Ballarat and enlisted there on 6th July 1916. e was 21 years old, single and a potter. He joined the 8th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 6346. He was awarded his Military Medal for "conspicuous bravery '. He was killed in action on the Menin Road area of 20th September 1917 and is buried in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, Zonnebeke, Belgium.
